UK Support to Health Authority COVID-19 Response

Recognising the additional pressures posed by COVID-19 on the Health Authority the UK Government has agreed an emergency grant of US$1.5 million. This will assist in meeting costs of establishing the temporary isolation facility at Princess Alexandra Hospital; expanding and equipping PAH’s laboratory to test for COVID-19; fast tracking the completion of the oxygen generating facility and purchasing pharmaceuticals.

In addition to this grant, a first shipment of personal protective equipment and other medical equipment (including ventilators) will arrive on-island early next week from the UK which has also agreed to meet the costs of engaging additional expert medical staff.
